Simple Ways To Growing Your Social Media Presence

Jan 21, 2020

“Growing A Social Media Presence”

It won’t happen overnight, you must have patience when growing your social media presence. Nobody told me that when I got started. I wanted microwaved results and I wanted them yesterday.
That’s why I crashed and burned.
My social media platform was created to entertain, educate and inform. No, I don’t have all the answers but sharing the things I learn along my journey excites me. I get to share free information, and who doesn’t like free information. It’s not a matter of who reads my blog post or who watches my YouTube videos, I share the things I’m learning because I genuinely want to. My heart smiles knowing that I can help someone else. If you have a passion for helping people we are sharing that same feeling right now, because you know just what I mean.
Growing a social media presence takes time, don’t fall for silly strategies like buying followers. It won’t get you far. You can start by doing these 8 simple things today to turn your social media presence up a notch.

Be Consistent

This one can be a little hard, especially in the beginning. Is growing a social media presence even possible with a full-time job, a growing child and not enough time?
The answer is Yes! I had to create the time not find the time. I made time for what was important and did more of it.
I thought about my favorite Social Media Influencer and my favorite YouTuber. Most of the best channels on Youtube stick to an uploading schedule. I know when to expect their next video. Which gives me something to look forward to. They will usually tell you what day to expect their next video and the very good ones will even give you a time. I’ll be honest I am not consistent as I should be. 2020 goals consist of creating a content calendar. My planner somehow got sent to the incorrect address, but it finally came, and I can’t wait to put it in use.

Check Your Audience Growth Strategy

Had the strategies I’d been using working? How are people finding me? Which social media platforms am I receiving the most engagement? When my readers get to my website, what are they doing next?
Google, YouTube & Instagram analytics will teach you how to use tables, graphs and data to find out the answers to all of the above. I will say, the information is overwhelming at the beginning and a tad bit all over the place, but it’s so worth learning. Worth every YouTube video watched, worth my many handwritten notes and most definitely worth the long nights.

How to grow your social media instagram
Learning not only how to use your analytics, but to read and understand what you’re looking at is a challenge. But I promise once you figure it out you begin to know the areas to spend most of your time. Let me just say I still don’t know how to use every feature on my analytic dashboards. So I want to make that clear. But I learn something new every day.
What I do know is that you can take your most viewed and engaged piece of content and make more of it. I let the numbers speak for themselves, then I ask myself how could I make similar content? As a result, I want to receive the same amount of engagement, if not more. Let’s use my Instagram for example. My CBD pictures receive more engagement, including likes and impressions (views). So I’ve been thinking about creating more content around CBD.

Engage in Facebook Groups

I know exactly what you’re thinking right now. Who wants to be apart of another freakinnn Facebook Group?
Well, I have found some pretty amazing people in Facebook Groups. Some of my best social media friends, come from Facebook Groups. You will find a community full of like-minded individuals who are on the same journey as you. You’ll find Bloggers, YouTubers and Instagram Influencers. Everyone looking to engage and receive engagement on their social media platform of choice. As long as you return the favor you will grow a social media audience.
Here are some of my favorite Facebook Groups. Join a few, engage with other members then sit back and watch your social media presence grow. Growing social media platforms with Facebook groups is one strategy you can’t go wrong with.

Respond To Comments

On most platforms responding to your comments within an hour of posting is what keeps your content visible to more and more people. The algorithm will boost your content because they see you are interacting with your audience.
I see so many comments left unresponded to. I mean one can’t be that busy where they don’t even have the time to respond to their comments.
Again, don’t find the time, create the time. Give yourself 30 – 45 minutes to respond to blog comments, Instagram comments, YouTube comments, and even Facebook comments. If you have an audience that lives on Facebook you should respond there as well.
If you have a goal to work with brands and land sponsorship’s on your social media journey, responding to comments is a must. Brands like to see you interacting with your readers and answering any questions they might have. Never just post content then leave, stay around awhile and have conversations with your readers.
Growing social media platforms

Be A Nice Human

Spreading positivity is the main ingredient in growing a social media presence. It’s not difficult to be a nice person across your social media platforms. Use these platforms to inspire someone who might be having a bad day. Compliment someone who is feeling down.
Often times I drop compliments, telling other women how pretty they look today or how much I really like the dress she’s wearing. You never know how your kind words can improve someone’s day. I make it a habit to drop 2 – 3 compliments on someone’s post a day. Sharing inspiring quotes across your social media platforms is another great idea. Just think about how your one post can give someone the strength and or encouragement they didn’t wake up with.
Emotions and anxiety are at an all-time high first thing in the morning. As soon as you wake up share a positive quote, think about how many people will have a better day because of words you’ve shared on social media.

Give Value

What can I teach someone today?
This is the question I ask myself before posting on social media. How can I educate? What can I teach my readers that they don’t already know?
This is why I enjoy sharing the things I learn on my social media journey as I learn them. I invest a lot of time into learning new skills, not only for self-growth but to share the information with my readers. If you aren’t providing any real consistent value, people have no reason to stick around. Chances are they won’t follow you on Instagram nor will they subscribe to your YouTube channel.
If you want to improve your personal social media presence, focus on pulling your readers in with emotion. It doesn’t matter your niche.

Engage With Those Who Show Interest In YOU

I used to ask myself “why is my social media not growing…’s because I was engaging but engaging with the wrong people.
At the beginning of my social media journey, every Youtube video told me to engage. I was definitely engaging but I wasn’t engaging with the correct people.
If you sell a product or service, you want to engage with your target audience. But in my case, I don’t sell anything (as of yet). Take Instagram for example, I would always engage with these accounts who have 25k or more followers. I would comment on their post, and maybe even send them a DM. I got nothing back, ever!
What I started doing was going through my post and looking for the people who are engaging with my content. I would then return the favor and go engage with their content. I take one Instagram post and return the favor for everyone who has commented on my post. I do the same for my blog post comments. Yes, this takes time but again it’s time well spent.
How to grow a social media audience

Be Genuine And Transparent

Your audience is smart. They will see through the BS real quick. Trust me when I tell you they can tell what’s fake and what’s real. You don’t want to lose a potential reader before you even gain one.
Be as honest as you can be with your audience. Let them know you don’t have all the answers, but you are here to provide the information you do have. I would love to make more posts about SEO (search engine optimization) but I know there’s still so much for me to learn. Before I start creating informative posts on SEO I want to have my ducks in a row first. My organic search is steadily increasing, so in the future, there will be more posts on SEO.

After you have identified your target audience and set goals growing a social media presence will become a little easier. Just be yourself, of course, some won’t like it, but trust me there will be even more who love it. Growing a social media presence takes time, don’t fall for the hype. Stay away from those people who tell you it will happen overnight. Microwaved results won’t happen with this one.
